Abstract:

The synthesis by combustion reaction to obtain TiO2 has been studied by several researchers and using different fuels. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of fuel (citric acid monohydrate, aniline, oxalic dihidrazida and carbohydrazides) in the synthesis, by combustion reaction, of TiO2 powders, to make the structural morphological characterization and to be applied these powders in the preparation of asymmetric ceramic membranes. The results from combustion flame temperature and time during the synthesis were: 900, 852, 798, 699°C and 50, 195, 172, 65 seconds for fuel Ean, Eox, Eac, Ecb respectively. The X-ray diffraction showed that all fuels studied presented the majority phase of rutile and the presence of anatase as second phase. The crystallite size and surface area were: 26, 43, 46, 52 nm and 3.89, 4.38, 4.63, 4.12 m²/g for Eac, Ean, Ecb and Eox, respectively. Micrographs showed the EAC, Ean and Eox samples clustering in the form of irregular plates with hard and dense aspects. For the Ecb sample the clusters present soft feature wtih easy disagglomeration.
