Summary:
The presentation will cover the revolutionary Recyclable resin technology developed by Adesso Advanced Materials, which was a JEC Asia 2012 Innovation Award winner. Recent development efforts of recyclable epoxy systems, Recycloset®, which are now commercialized, will be presented. The presentation will demonstrate how Adesso’s series of Cleavamine® degradable curing agents can be adapted to suit the recyclable liquid and pre-preg manufacturing and fabrication of CFRP fishing rod and automotive parts. The technology is designed to produce sustainable fiber reinforced recyclable composite components, from which both the resin and the fibers can be recovered and reused. Recent breakthrough of complete recycling of such recyclable composites under mild conditions will be reported. Recycloset® technology is based on Adesso’s patent-pending Cleavamine® curing agents. Fiber reinforced composite parts manufactured from either liquid or prepreg epoxy resins cured with Cleavamine® curing agents can undergo degradation and be dissolved in an aqueous-organic solvent mixture at specific, but mild conditions. More than 95% of fibers can be recovered, with the recovery process having minimal effect on the properties of fibers, allowing them to be recycled as they can be reused for producing short fiber structural reinforcement composites.
