Process For High Surface Area Mesoporous Activated Carbons From Waste Biomass

This technology relates to an activated carbon material, derived from biomass, comprising of ~100% mesoporosity and >2.5 cm3/g mesopore volume. The BET surface area is >1500 m2/g. Any biomass can be used, including coconut shell, palm kernal shell and saw dust.

Value Proposition: (1) High mesopore volume compared to conventional activated carbons (ACs). Target molecules of this AC are bigger than what can be adsorbed with conventional ACs. (2) High surface area of AC (3) Environmentally friendly as AC is biomass derived.
