The Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) within DOEs Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy funds research, development, and demonstration of a variety of technologies and processes to support domestic production of biofuels, bio-based chemicals, and biopower. Bioproducts play an increasingly important role in the Office’s strategy to produce cost-competitive hydrocarbon biofuels as they can provide biorefineries with additional, flexible sources of revenue. This talk will provide an overview of the types of bioproducts R&D funded by the Office as well as the Office’s bioproducts strategy moving forward.
