Summary:In this contribution, we will present our findings on developing novel hybrid biomaterials for cardiac tissue repair in the form of fibers, injectable solutions, or cardiac patches. Our materials were tested in vitro and in vivo by using a clinically relevant animal model. The data point towards the ability to manipulate the macroscopic regenerative properties of the composite material by nano-engineering the surface composition upon incorporating spherical nano-silver or gold structures.
