Igor Medintz received a PhD in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from the City University of New York in 1999. This was followed by a National Cancer Institute Fellowship with Prof.
Richard Mathies of the College of Chemistry, University of California, Berkeley and some industrial experience with Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
He began at the US Naval Research Laboratory as a National Research Council Fellow in 2002 and as a Research Biologist in 2004. He currently serves as the Department of the Navy's Senior Scientist for Biosensors and Biomaterials with the Center for Bio/ Molecular Science and Engineering. His research interests include how nanoparticles engage in energy transfer and how biological processes are altered at a nanoparticle interface. He has authored >350 scientific publications.
