Dr. Nitin Shukla has more than fifteen years of combined experience in the areas of building materials and technology, thermal science and material characterization.  At Fraunhofer CSE, Dr. Shukla leads the material, thermal and hygrothermal characterization research.  Dr. Shukla has been actively involved in the development of advanced building insulations (such as aerogels and vacuum insulation panels, etc.), phase change material (PCM), and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV).  Dr. Shukla received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2009 with focus on nanoscale heat transport.  From 2009‒11, he worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he focused on thermal interface materials, energy conversion devices and phase change processes.  Dr. Shukla has published over 35 journal and technical articles in the fields of advanced building materials and designs, thermal sciences, material development and characterization, and a book chapter on advanced materials.
