Dr.Geetha Manivasagam, from Vellore Institute of Technology, India is working on enhancement of service period of Ti based biomaterials for past 18 years . She carried out her Ph.D in two national labs , Defence metallurgical Research lab and Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research . Her post doctoral training was at Clemson University, USA. Her passion towards development of implants with optimum properties has led to the creation of a Centre for biomaterials in her University with an interdisciplinary team and the main focus of this team are surface engineering of implants, tissue engineering,imaging, biomechanics, stem cell and gene therapy. She has been ranked as Number one scientist by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, India. One of her major contribution is the paper published on Ti based biomaterials in Progress in materials science is that it was cited more than 2200 times. She is also a member of several societies and advisory boards and a visiting professor in two Universities in UTC,mFrance & UFRT, France . She has received three international projects which includes Indo-UK, Indo –German and Indo-Austria apart from the several grants from Funding agencies in India. She collaborates with biomaterial scientists from USA, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Austria, Uk, Australia, Sweden, Serbia and Korea. She has authored several book chapters and review articles . She is a Fellow of Tamil Nadu Academy of Sciences, Chennai. Her hobby is space science and travelling.
