Summary:With the increasing importance of optical/electrical system integration, a compact model to capture the physics of optical signal and electronic signal mixing will be important to predict the behavior of many opto-electronic systems. In this work, we have developed a generic approach to model the interactions between optical signals and electrical signals based on the coupling rate equations. The approach is applied to model the behavior of the popular Current-Assisted Photonic Demodulator (CAPD) to demonstrate its ability to capture the dynamic response of the system.
