mRNA: from addressing global pandemics to medicines of the future

Summary:

mRNA technology has emerged as a potential therapeutic intervention in disease areas including oncology, rare diseases, cardiovascular, metabolic, and infectious diseases. In particular, mRNA vaccines have played a critical role in addressing the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic crisis. This presentation will focus on the development of an In Vivo Expressed Biologic strategy to respond to emerging pandemic threats. Examples of gene therapy approach including mRNA and other platforms will be shared. Pre-clinical data showcasing the development of a pandemic prevention treatment in less than 60 days from the identification of the threat will be presented. Lastly, a few examples of mRNA as medicines of the future will be discussed.
