Jianqiang Wei

Dr. Jianqiang Wei is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Prior to joining UMass Lowell, he was a postdoctoral research associate in the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Southern California. He worked as a postdoctoral associate in the Lyles School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University from 2014 to 2016. He obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Columbia University in 2014. Dr. Wei has received various awards including Academic Star, Best Paper Award, Best Dissertation Award, Kwang-Hua Fellowship and travel awards, and he is the sole recipient of the Erbilgin Family Fellowship at Columbia University. His research integrates cement chemistry, nanoengineering, bio-polymer science, problem-driven/performance-orientated design and emerging techniques to address the critical infrastructure challenges and to design sustainable, durable and resilient infrastructure materials for future smart and connected communities. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed journal publications, conference proceedings and presentations, and he mentored numerous students in interdisciplinary research at the interface of materials science and civil engineering. He has chaired several conference sessions and served as a reviewer for more than 40 journals and funding agencies.
