Michael Jakubinek obtained his undergraduate degree in Chemical Physics from Queen’s University followed by MSc and PhD degrees in Physics at Dalhousie University, specializing in materials science. He joined the scientific staff of the Division of Emerging Technologies, National Research Council Canada (NRC) in 2010 and currently holds the position of Research Officer, Nanocomposites. His research activities are centered on the characterization and development nanotube materials, in particular carbon nanotube and boron nitride nanotube composites and their applications. His work on interdisciplinary science and engineering teams has been recognized by a number of awards, most prominently a Canadian Public Service Award for Scientific Achievement and NRC’s Rising Star award for early career achievement. He is an author of 35 journal papers as well as many conference proceedings and two invited book chapters.
