Summary:
Funding for new startups can be a challenge. The federal government has several grant programs for small businesses. This non-dilutive funding can serve as seed funding to get a new venture up and running. At NIH we have funding set aside specifically for this purpose. This talk will describe the funding mechanisms for small businesses at NIH. In addition it will detail the process of applying for funding. The mission of NIH and the scientific interests of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, specifically the blood division will be detailed, along with examples from our scientific portfolio.
