Summary:

Organic color-centers are molecularly tunable quantum defects that can be synthetically introduced into semiconducting carbon nanotube hosts. Charge carriers in the form of electron-hole pairs (or excitons) are efficiently harvested at these atomic defect sites to emit as bright shortwave-infrared photons that carry local chemical information, which opens new possibilities of pushing the limits of sensing and imaging. In this talk, we will present recent progress at this emerging frontier and discuss both the challenges and opportunities.
