Dr. Lilian C. Johnson is a chemical engineer in the Functional Polymers Group in the Material Measurement Laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD. She joined NIST in 2019 as a NIST National Research Council (NRC) Postdoctoral Research Associate (2019-2021). In her current research, Dr. Johnson studies coarse-graining methods to preserve the structure and dynamics of atomistic molecular dynamics models of polymers. She received her B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2013 and her Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Cornell University in 2018. Her doctoral work was focused on the structure, rheology, and dynamics of reversible colloidal gels utilizing large-scale dynamic simulation to understand time- and flow-dependent behavior.
