Kambiz Safinya is CEO of Visuray, where he has brought to market the world’s first downhole X-ray imaging tool, enabling oil companies unambiguously to diagnose well damage and problems in real time. He has more than 40 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, 30 of them with Schlumberger, where he was lastly Heavy Oil Theme Director and held various management positions in Operations, Marketing, Research and Product Development in the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia, introducing a number of disruptive formation evaluation technologies that are now widely-used services. He holds more than 20 US patents, received his PhD in Atomic Physics from Harvard University in 1979 and a Business Degree from INSEAD, and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
