Summary:
Currently, the industrial sector represents one third of the nation’s energy-related CO2 emissions. To achieve net zero emissions by 2050, traditional carbon-intensive products (i.e., petro-based insulation) must be replaced with abundant and effective decarbonization materials (i.e., biomasses). This research repurposes wood waste through lignin modification and bio-based binder addition to fabricate low-cost, high-performance building insulation foam.
