Wonbong Choi

Dr. Choi is an internationally recognized researcher in nanotechnology and has conducted pioneering research on synthesis of nanomaterials and applications in rechargeable batteries and electronic devices. He is a Materials Research Society (MRS) Fellow since 2009 and Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors since 2022. He has received numerous awards including the MRS Medal (2006), Research Leadership Award (UNT, 2021), the Samsung Golden Award (2001), the Best Patent Award (SAMSUNG SAIT, 2001). He is the Director of Center for Battery Technology and Associate Director of Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Processes Institute (AMMPI) at University of North Texas (UNT). Dr. Choi has received numerous research grants from NSF, AFOSR, DARPA, SRC, DOE (SBIR/STTR), and industry, including Samsung. He is an author/co-author of over 80 patents, 1 book (Graphene), 11 book chapters, and 260 publications (citations >18,000, h-index 69), Editor of a book “Graphene”, a Guest editor of Li-S batteries (MDPI), a topical editor of Current Applied Physics (Elsevier), and is a member of editorial boards of five journals.
