Alf Carroll is SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) Black Belt at RTX-Raytheon, where he focuses on Innovations, Partnering, Technology Transitions, and is Blue Technology Champion leveraging his Ocean Engineering background. He supports several teams at RTX, including Advanced Technology (AT) and Supplier Innovation (SI), and Systems Engineering. Alf has led many technology projects including Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (AT/FP), Ballistic Protection, Naval Systems, System Integrity, and Energy Security/Assurance. Empowered by Raytheon’s positive ‘Lean Forward’ engineering culture, Alf provides technical support in both ZUMWALT Destroyer, & SPY-6 (Radar) Product Line programs, including ‘Pilot Portfolio’ Projects.
Alf is a passionate champion for and technical leader of SBIR programs across RTX, DOD and DOE. In this role, he promotes “outside the box” concepts and innovative Team-Oriented solutions by enabling collaboration with Subject Matter Experts, Tech Directors, Program Managers, Universities, and many small businesses.
Alf earned an MS in Ocean Engineering from MIT while a C.S. Draper Fellow, a BS in Mechanical Engineering with Honors from Northeastern University, preceded by 2 years at the US Coast Guard Academy.
Alf is active as an RTX Pride Ally, active in several RTX-ERGs , and an extremely proud parent of 2 young Americans. Previously, he was a Board Chairman of Salvation Army/ Greater New Bedford, MA and Co-Chair at Engineering Technical Advisory Board at Upper Cape Regional High School. Alf currently Mentors Blue Technology Cohort-members in Blue Technology.
