Summary:

A portable Raman spectrometer, equipped with an on-chip biosensor featuring silver nanoparticles on diatomaceous photonic crystals, enables point-of-care sensing of illicit drug residue. Through chemometric analyses, we achieved ultra-sensitive detection of fentanyl in tap water and accurately predicted its concentration in sewage water. Validation with real water samples from Oregon aligns with Oregon Health Authority data, highlighting the system's practicality and reliability.
