Summary:

The Central New York Biotech Accelerator (CNYBAC) Medical Device Innovation Challenge (MDIC) provides mentorship, education, resource support and commercialization research to selected early stage medical device innovation teams. The 6-month program is supported in part through a NYS Certified Business Incubator grant and has graduated 38 teams over the past seven years. The selected teams submit project goals and are partnered with targeted mentors in areas such as intellectual property protection and freedom to operate, medical device classification and regulatory strategy, product design and development, risk management and quality systems, manufacturing, and start-up company operations. The CNYBAC MDIC program goals are to make sure MDIC teams sprint toward incubation, are well prepared, have a broader ecosystem for partnership development, pivot or fail fast. This poster provides a model which provides assistance to innovators from all walks of life who need assistance where there is so much to understand when bringing a regulated product to market.
