Dr. Xiangyang Dong currently is an Associate Professor in the School of Manufacturing Systems and Networks at Arizona State University. He is a member of the graduate faculty in Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and System Engineering at ASU. Dr. Dong’s research interests focus on advancing clean-energy technologies through sustainable design and manufacturing of multifunctional composites and ceramics. Through taking interdisciplinary efforts by combining multi-scale, multi-physics modeling with experiments, he aims at a better understanding of the relationships between materials microstructure, multifunctional properties, and processing conditions. His long-term goal is to develop cleaner, more energy-efficient, and smarter design and fabrication technologies toward a more sustainable future. He is a recipient of NSF’s Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award and ORAU Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award.
