Alf Carroll is Raytheon Engineering Technology staff member, where he is a Site Innovation Advocate, Leads Small Business Partnering, and is a ‘Blue Tech’ Champion leveraging his Ocean Engineering expertise. He supports several Raytheon teams, including Advanced Technology (AT), Supplier Innovation (SI), and Systems Engineering. Alf has led many technology projects including Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (AT/FP), Ballistic Protection, Naval Systems, and Energy Security/Assurance. Before joining Raytheon, other projects included Submarine Propulsion, UUV Systems and Targets, Torpedo Defense, and Fiber Optics Comms/Sensing, and Embedded SW. Empowered by Raytheon’s positive ‘Lean Forward’ engineering culture, Alf continues to provide technical support to the ZUMWALT-Class Destroyer, SPY-6 Radar Product Line, and other programs. He’s currently privileged to lead ‘SBIR Pilot Portfolio’ projects with US Navy.
Alf is a passionate champion for SBIR programs across RTX, DoD and DOE. In this role, he promotes “outside the box” concepts/innovative Team-Oriented solutions via collaboration with SME’s, Tech Directors, Chief Engineers, Program Managers, Universities, and US Small Businesses. Alf earned his MS in Ocean Engineering Masters at MIT, a BS in Mechanical Engineering at Northeastern University, preceded by 2 years at the US Coast Guard Academy.
Alf is active as an RTX Pride Ally, is active in several RTX-ERGs, and is a proud parent of 2 young Americans. Previously, he was Board Chairman of Salvation Army/ Greater New Bedford, MA and Co-Chair at Engineering Technical Advisory Board at Upper Cape Regional High School. Alf is a mentor at Raytheon, and also for Technology ‘Cohort-Members’ in the Blue Technology domain.
