Keywords: aqueous electrolyte, zinc ion battery

Summary:

Aqueous zinc-based battery with zinc metal acting as the anode, including static battery and flow battery, are one of the most promising energy storage technologies for grid due to their low cost and high safety. In this talk, recent development on aqueous zinc-based batteries at Oak Ridge National Laboratory will be discussed in detail, including the new electrolyte chemistries for flow battery and new cathodes and rational electrolyte design for static zinc batteries.
