Summary:

This abstract surrounds the mechanism of binding for PFAS adsorbent, FLUORO-SORB Adsorbent across various concentration ranges. This was determined through extensive isotherm testing where four phases of sorption were observed. This testing utilized scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM) coupled with X-ray adsorption near edge structure spectroscopy (XANES) to determine sorption mechanisms. Additionally, a study on the impact of FLUORO-SORB Adsorbent on bioaccumulation of PFAS in earthworms in comparison to GAC. This study displayed significant decreases in body burden of PFAS in earthworms supporting the positive impact of FLUORO-SORB Adsorbent on soil biomes.
