Dr. Jun Cui specializes in ferroic materials—including ferromagnetic, ferroelectric, and fer-roelastic systems—targeting energy-efficient and renewable energy applications. His re-search spans several key areas, including critical-material permanent magnets, high-silicon electrical steel, refractory high-entropy alloys, elastocaloric and shape memory metals, and cryogenic magnetocaloric materials. Additionally, Dr. Cui leads initiatives in high-throughput bulk materials synthesis and characterization methodologies. Before joining Io-wa State University and Ames National Laboratory in 2015, Dr. Cui worked at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory from 2010 to 2015 and at GE Global Research Center from 2005 to 2010. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 2002 and complet-ed his postdoctoral training at the University of Maryland in 2005. Dr. Cui holds 10 grant-ed patents and 15 pending patent applications, has published 101 peer-reviewed papers, and has contributed to 18 conference papers and technical reports.
