Thaisha Wright

Assistant Professor

University of California, Los Angeles

Professor Wright began her scientific career by earning his B.S. in Chemistry from Spelman College in 2015. In 2020, Dr. Wright received her doctoral degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Miami University, where she designed, synthesized, and tested protein-polymer bioconjugates for use in biofuel production. She then continued her training at the University of Colorado, Boulder as a chancellor's postdoctoral fellow and the University of California, San Diego as a president's postdoctoral fellow where she studied enzyme immobilization and cellular engineering, respectively. Dr. Wright joined the faculty at the University of California, Los Angeles in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in 2022. Currently, her laboratory works to better understand and exploit the interface of biology and materials science for industrial, agricultural, and biomedical applications.
