Summary:
Five years ago, the idea for a biomimetic accommodating intraocular lens (IOL) was a sketch on a piece of paper and an invention disclosure that needed a material with very specific properties that did not exist. In February of 2026, Adaptilens’ biomimetic IOL will be implanted in humans for the first time. This talk will highlight the materials innovations needed to make this idea a working device and the importance of teamwork in accelerating the development timeline from eureka moment to first in man
