  Opioid Degradation for Treatment of Fentanyl Overdose

  NRL researchers have formulated a novel compound that inhibits fentanyl activity by acting as a solution-based neutralization complex to degrade the fentanyl compound before it can bind to the opioid receptor. The drug decreases the bioavailability of fentanyl and results in much less fentanyl efficacy than naloxone used alone.
