  Photonics

This symposium is focused on novel photonic technologies and materials, and their use in the commercial space for various advanced applications.  The symposium highlights mission-critical industrial applications of photonics as well as emerging technologies within the research community that are poised to make the transition from the lab to applications.  The event connects scientists and engineers around the country and world working in photonics or adjacent technologies for possible collaboration.  Applications areas to be explored include advanced manufacturing, aerospace, agriculture, clean energy, communications, consumer products, cybersecurity, defense, film & theatre, homeland security, life science, physical AI, and space exploration.

Program Outline

Breakfast Networking: Joint CHIPS and Photonics
Welcome, Introductory Remarks from Advancing Photonics Technologies (APT)
Crossing the Chasm: How to Successfully Navigate the Startup Valley of Death

Technology is only as impactful as its ability to get from the bench into its users’ hands. The path to getting out of the lab to the layperson is notoriously difficult, especially for deep tech startups. This panel features the wisdom of industry experts, innovators, thought leaders, and investors. Learn how to implement best practices and avoid the pitfalls in taking your technology to market.

Lightning Tech Talks Spotlighting Cutting-Edge Photonics Technologies
Fireside Chat - Taking Photonics Tech to Market: Founders’ Perspectives (Joint CHIPS & Photonics)

Learn about the founder’s journey and what it takes to scale an innovation from an idea in a lab to impact around the globe

Submit your Abstract - due April 4

Please first review the information for authors — abstract submission guidelines.
