ACR 2 Cybersecurity Risk Management System™ (ACRMS™)
The highly automated ACR 2 Cybersecurity Risk Management System™ (ACRMS™) brings small Federal contractors into compliance with unclassified data cybersecurity requirements with limited need for scarce and expensive cybersecurity experts. Extensive auditing in the long-regulated medical industry shows most cybersecurity program audit failures are due to three issues; lack of a cybersecurity risk assessment, lack of cybersecurity policy safeguards (>60% of HIPAA breaches are due to human error), and lack of user training in cybersecurity safeguards. The ACRMS™ integrates these elements with a user-friendly task management system to provide a cybersecurity capability that greatly reduces the need for expert services. The core technology of the ACRMS™ is an expert system computer model implementation of the NIST 800-30 cybersecurity risk assessment protocol that has been tested in over 200 cybersecurity audits since 2006. Integrated with video assisted policy creation, on-line user education and task management modules, the ACRMS™ has been demonstrated to rapidly and inexpensively bring small contractors into compliance with Federal cybersecurity standards. Given the expected near-term shortfall of cybersecurity experts, the ACRMS™ uniquely allows the small contractors who handle over 20% of federal spending to efficiently meet the ever-increasing demands for cybersecurity.

MEMS Deformable Mirrors for Enhanced Imaging, Remote Sensing and Free Space Optical Communication
MEMS deformable mirror (DM) technology can be used as wavefront correction devices to enhance the throughput of any optical system. They can be used to increase data rates by shaping the light for improved transmission in free space optical communication (FSOC) and improve long range imaging capabilities by better focusing and correcting for atmospheric aberrations. Although DMs have been around for almost 30 years, recently their improved performance in speed and resolution has enabled higher bandwidth optical communication and higher resolution imaging. This is transformational in that it can be used to send data through turbulent atmospheres at much higher data rates and acquire higher quality images over longer distances. This has led to increased interest in the Defense community and spurred projects requiring this technology. It will impact industry in that it will enable higher data transfer rates via secure point-to-point free space optical links and yield more information from reconnaissance missions.
Tech to help entrepreneurs build IP cost effectively and grow the business
We apply deep learning to help inventors draft high quality patent applications. This enhances documentation of ideas using machine drafting of documents. This cuts down cost. The Foundation will provide low cost DYI patent filing software. The inventor’s ideas can be uniquely secured using the blockchain and powered by the Inventiv cryptocurrency or token, which works as a medium of exchange that uses strong cryptography to record new ideas on the blockchain, control the creation of additional ideas from the crowd, and verify the transfer of ideas as intellectual property (IP) assets. The system provides Context Sensitive Examples so you can see how others describe similar subject matter, making the provisional preparation easier. The software has a natural language understanding tool, which captures inconsistencies in the filing so that the user can file without mistakes. Using natural language processing (NLP), the software checks the consistency of terms and number references in the application and whether the claims are supported by your description. The system checks claims for proper antecedent basis and shows you how claim elements are described in the description. An editable claim tree allows for ease of manipulating claim concepts.
Microbes for Plant Growth and for Water Remediation
A selectively bred microbial solution is disclosed with multiple single microbial series separately cultivated and followed with cross cultivation among those microbial series in a specific sequence and contains each of those microbial series, and by-products produced by those crossly cultivated microbial series are used for applications in modifying soil quality, activating soil, effectively degrading soil pollution, and helping growth of crops in a soil enhancement embodiment. After the selective breeding through the fermentation, the selectively bred naturally-occurring microorganisms have the ability to penetrate through the soil while enriching with micronutrients, microbial cultures and organic materials in a highly concentrated stage. In the course of cross cultivation, each of those eight microbial series maintains intrigue symbiosis and shared prosperity among one another by playing a critical role with secretions of its own particular active organics. For example, the nitrogen fixing series converts the molecular nitrogen into ammoniac nitrogen and the resultant ammoniac nitrogen is partially to be consumed by the nitrogen fixing series.

Anti-scratch Sapphire Thin Film Coating
“Hard-coating” is always a hot topic in surface enhancement, because all designers want their product to be more robust and durable. Currently, manufacturers have several hard-coating methods, such as DLC & SiN etc. However, each methods still have their bottleneck, which can only apply in particular product due to the non-transparent feature, size limitation, high capital investment. The HKBU spin-off, Cathay Photonics Limited (CPL) believes new technology should be able to enhance surface capability of all component with different shape, and meanwhile to reduce its manufacturing cost. Therefore, CPL invented a unique sapphire thin-film coating by using PVD process, which is mature and cost effectively in modern display manufacturing. Also, our sapphire thin-film is highly transparent, in which the appearance and properties of substrate remain unchanged after coating.

Sample preparation tools using novel scribing and cleaving technology
LatticeGear was founded on the premise that preparation of wafer and other substrates for further processing or inspection should be fast, clean and affordable. The LatticeAx, FlipScribe and FlexScribe, each with their unique features, full fill these objectives by scribing, indenting and/or cleaving. The dry mechanical processes eliminate the need for lubricants (water and oil), heat (lasers) that can often damage delicate materials, films and devices and are used by other sample preparation technologies. The patented LatticeAx mechanizes and systemizes the most common, basic manual scribe and cleave process practiced daily in laboratories using fingers and handheld tools. To cleave a sample, a weak point must first be created, typically by scribing and more uniquely by indenting, which is what the LatticeAx does, then the sample is cleaved by creating stress on the weak point. The device integrates indenting and cleaving into one tool and includes a platform for supporting a substrate, novel diamond indenter and cleaving mechanism. The patented FlipScribe uniquely scribes the backside of the sample, keeping the front side clean and damage free. The fast, clean, dry, accurate and repeatable process has transformed sample preparation in laboratories and fabs from a roadblock to a non-issue.

Advanced Payload Adapter for Small Satellites (APASS)
LoadPath’s Advanced Payload Adapter for Small Satellites (APASS) will be developed to maximize its utility across numerous small launch vehicle (LV) platforms for a wide range of small satellites. There is currently a unique opportunity for universal payload adapters due to the 50+ emerging small LVs worldwide. Traditionally, each of these LVs would develop a suite of payload adapters specific to their LV, a costly endeavor for each of these entities to tackle in an already highly competitive market. APASS will engage these emerging LVs to develop a single, universal suite of payload adapters that can be readily integrated into their launch operations. This will reduce costs to the LV by both eliminating their non-recurring development costs and by providing payload adapters that are cheaper to produce. In addition, APASS will be a high-quality product that leverages LoadPath’s ten years of payload adapter development experience.
MultiMech - Multiscale Material Simulation Software to Reduce Material Development Time & Cost
MultiMech is a multiscale modeling and simulation software tool that allows engineers to virtually test advanced materials. Before MultiMech, the lower accuracy of existing simulation tools meant that products sent to be certified often failed, even after extensive virtual and physical testing. This lengthened the already-cumbersome certification process and slowed the transition from metals to composites. MultiMech’s unique approach considers how the material microstructure, part, and manufacturing process are all connected. Its unique ability to test how manufacturing will affect the material microstructure, and thus part performance, means it can capture common manufacturing defects occurring at the microstructural level. This holistic view, combined with MultiMech’s speed and 99% accuracy, gives companies the ability to send only their best material ideas to be physically tested and have more confidence that the design will pass certification. The ability to only send the most promising designs with confidence will lead to companies being able to increase the success rate of the testing process. This in turn can lead to more widespread adoption of composites, which will reduce fuel consumption, reduce the cost of transportation to both consumers and companies, and make the world a greener, safer place.
MultiMech's AutoCalibration Tool
Currently, there is a large gap between experimental testing and material simulation - especially with new advanced composites. This is because classic modeling approaches used in industry cannot confidently predict composite failure, due to the many complex failure mechanisms in this material. Unreliable models lead to expensive and time-consuming physical testing. On the other hand, research groups have been able to characterize the micromechanics involved in these models and shown accurate results. Yet, these models are often created by scientists with years of focused experience, in-house code, and complex material models. Migrating these models into commercial engineering workflows has proven difficult and infeasible due to the specific experience and lack of standardization. The MultiMech AutoCalibration Tool aims to close the model-experiment gap by giving engineers a tool that only requires simple, readily available inputs. With these data inputs (which are publicly available), a microstructural model is created that can be applied to any finite element model achieving the high accuracy and efficacy that is inherent to multiscale simulation. With this accuracy, validated models do not require the extensive physical testing currently done, saving material manufacturers, part manufacturers, and OEMs up to 40% on designing and certifying composite materials or structures.

In summary, rasdaman heralds a new generation of services on massive, distributed spatio-temporal data standing out through its flexibility (any query, any time), performance and scalability (2.5+ PB, 1000x parallelization), security (access control down to single pixel level), and open standards (being reference implementation).
Artificial intelligence, machine learning, machine vision for infrastructure and road surface assessments
RoadBotics AI is unlike anything else that exists today to assess infrastructure. RoadBotics is an infrastructure technology company that uses AI to revolutionize how governments and engineering firms make data-driven pavement management decisions. The company uses cutting-edge deep learning and a simple smartphone to disrupt the highly subjective and expensive pavement inspection process. The technology began in development at Carnegie Mellon University as a project in the Robotics Institute with the original intention of contributing to the autonomous vehicle revolution. With much mathematical effort and additional training of the algorithms, the original algorithms were commercialized to assess infrastructure. RoadBotics' algorithms have been trained to read images and automatically make decisions on road conditions. This is a result of a machine-learning technique called deep learning to train neural networks. Neural networks are the core machinery of deep learning and aims to find patterns in data. More specifically, RoadBotics is using computer vision, and through deep learning trains the algorithms. The primary training method was (and is) supervised learning, which involves feeding the equations, that make up the algorithms, labeled data.
Skylight - A Big Data Platform for Buildings
Site 1001 was spun out of a large construction company where the solution was invented to fill a hole in the currently available software for buildings. Once the solution was created, the true value was discovered in not just performing simple facilities management and maintenance processes but in truly optimizing the performance of the entire building. This new platform is Skylight, a big data platform for buildings. Competitors include old guard facility management or maintenance companies as well as some newer firms focused on building analytics and performance. Our difference is that we bring expertise from both the construction (non-technical) and software (technical) worlds, giving us much better knowledge and insight into how buildings are designed and can be enhanced for performance. By incorporating an AI element into building operations, Site 1001’s Skylight can build correlations between multiple data sources ensuring that buildings are not only running better than they were previously, but empowering the people within them. Building professionals use Skylight to create better places through smarter building management and community connection. Skylight translates core building and operational data into information to maximize satisfaction, lower operational costs, increase asset longevity and enhance property value.
